Struggling to Know the Common Practices When Creating a P&ID?
Starting from Scratch - No Previous P&ID Knowledge Required
- Going through main P&ID anatomy, types and how to read a P&ID.
- Understanding basic piping, valves and fitting symbols.
- Diving into control and shutdown systems and analyzing their main components; instruments, system, and final element.
- Figuring out the role of a P&ID within a project and how its level of details is affected by project phase.
P&ID Serves for a Smooth Plant Operation- Let's see How
- Performance indication, alarms, and sampling.
- Plant Isolation
- Preparation for maintenance
- Drainage
Process Safety and Plant Protection in a P&ID
- Create an inherently safe system
- Ensure proper placement of layers of protection as shutdown interlocks and PSVs
- Evaluate protection layers against probable deviations using HAZOP and SIL assessment sessions.
What you shall learn
P&ID Structure
We shall understand P&ID anatomy and how a P&ID drawing looks like. In addition, we shall go through the different P&ID types such as legend, typical details, distribution and tie-in P&IDs.
P&ID Basic data
The data shown on a P&ID, such as piping fittings, instrument details, control and shutdown loop details, PSVs, tie-in points, and splitting the scope of each project stakeholder in the P&ID.
Project Workflow
The role of a P&ID within a project workflow, what it is based on, how it serves other disciplines, and the types of P&ID issues depending on project phase.
Equipment isolation
Installing proper isolation configuration for each equipment to ensure safe maintenance and avoid spillage. This shall be with various examples on different equipment.
Easy Maintenance
Providing all required connections needed for plant maintenance such as steam out, venting and drainage connections.
Drain and Relief Systems
Any plant has both drain and relief systems to serve the plant operation, maintenance and protection methods. The course shall explain how these systems work in detail.
Shutdown Protection
Using SIS system to protect the plant equipment and piping against process upsets and prevent hazardous situations.
Inherently Safe Plant
Learn how proper pressure and temperature are specified for plant components to ensure the system is inherently safe
PSV Installations
The common cases of using a pressure safety valve, and how it mitigates the hazard and protects the plant against different overpressure scenarios
HAZOP Study
HAZOP analysis is used to check the expected process deviations and how they are addressed. We shall go deep through a P&ID HAZOP analysis with examples.
SIL Assessment
SIL sessions are necessary to take decisions on the reliability of plant safeguards against severity and likelyhood of hazards. We shall check this with examples.
