This course explains how a process engineer carries out proper sizing of pressure relief devices (PSV or PRV). This is essentially done by understanding overpressure, blowdown and depressuring scenarios and calculations of relief loads based on these loads. In addition, this course shall go through flare analysis. This shall be done through several examples using Aspen Hysys for PSV sizing and for depressuring, and Aspen Flare Analyzer for flare header sizing.

What is included in this course?
- Role of PSV as a Layer of Protection in a plant and in project
- PSV Operation and Pressure Levels
- PSV different types and how they work
- API 520 and 521 Requirements
- Calculating PSV Orifice Area
- Calculate Relief Loads for different Overpressure Scenarios
- Various PSV sizing examples using Aspen HYSYS
